Flash For Droid Landing August 18th

One of the big selling points for the Froyo update — and something to hold over iPhone users — is that Flash will finally and fully be available for the OS.  However, the Flash install won’t be available at launch, and its release will depend on the specific phone model.

For the many, many Droid users, we have a pretty good idea of when it will land. Courtesy of another Verizon employee leak, their best estimate is that Flash will be available on August 18, approximately two weeks away.

This means you won’t have to suffer more than a week or two with Android 2.2 installed, but no Flash on the internet.

Thanks for the article, I agree that having Flash is one of the most important features coming from the FroYo update. Personally, I didn’t want to wait until September to have Flash on my Droid so I’ve been trying out the Skyfire browser to watch flash videos, its a satisfying alternative.

You can’t watch flash videos without flash… skyfire allows you to see the non mobile version of a web site by changing the user agent header. The video you are seeing is probably some native format.

As of the 25th of August still no flash update for Droid. Adobe’s web site says end of summer it will be made available in the market place.

Ugh, these clowns have been saying that Flash would be out since early June. How pathetic.

I got the droid update this morning. Then went to Adobe.com and was able to download and install Flash 10.1. Try going to the Adobe website and manually downloading. It worked for me.
