I've downloaded a few of the staples... Solitaire, Pac Man. Any recommendations for good apps? Is it easy enough to delete apps that I don't like?

Check out SplashID. Not as good as the Palm verison, but worth the price of free.

Here are abunch of great apps.
TuneWiki: This app provides karaoke on the go, by adding song lyrics to YouTube videos.

Barcode Scanner: Use the G1's camera to scan the barcode of items such as CDs and books, and this service will find the cheapest place to buy that product online, as well as use the phone's in-built GPS to give a list of shops and prices in the local area.

Telegraph news app: Get the latest news, sport, finance and travel headlines pushed straight to your mobile phone. Keep up to date with world events at the touch of a button

WikiMobile: All the power of Wikipedia, in mobile form. You'll never be stuck for answers at a pub quiz again.

PhotoStream: Flickr addicts will love this app, which syncs their photo-sharing account with the G1 and allows users to instantly upload snaps to their Flickr stream.

Some of those apps seem pretty cool. Especially the barcode scanner one. Using your phone to scan a product and then finding out where to get it is ingenious.

Are there any good multiplayer apps out there? They can be either local of wireless multiplayer games.

Yes, it's easy enough to uninstall.

Yes, it's easy enough to uninstall. Menu --> Settings --> Applications and select manage applications here. You can uninstall any you don't like.

    Good android app:

EasyMoney. A very good finance tracking app which is not available on iphone at the moment. Provides a nice graphical evaluation of my spending, can input my monthly budget and has a bill reminder where I only need to input the info once and it would recur the bill reminders. Useful app for money conscious android users.

and I agree, the barcode scanner is cool!

I highly recommend WikiMobile if you are thirsty for knowledge :) My favourite app is the barcode scanner. There are several on the market as far as I know, but I think the best one is this - SnyervBPrice1.0 Scanner
Depending on your phone, you can try some of the latest FPS games for android. It is a lot of fun :)
