I really don't think it's ever going to happen... just like you will never see a Microsoft made phone...

perhaps not, but its an interesting concept
    an all data phone...

kind of useless with out a wifi hotspot everywhere or some sort of built in broadband

How is the Nexusone a Google made phone if it was made by HTC?

the hardware is by HTC but everything else is by Google even how you buy it, so it wont be available at AT&T but will be able to be used by them since it appears to be a GSM device

So it's an unlocked un-bloated phone that can be sold on any GSM carrier... this is how they have been selling phones in europe and asia for years. Is this concept really new to us here in the states that we think it's the phone that will overthrow all other phone?

    that is true yes
but that really hasnt been done here in the US

i mean sure you can buy a gsm phone and use it on any gsm network but what percentage of people actually do that vs buying a carrier subsidized phone?

so knowing that... how well do you think this will sell? is selling through google only, unsubsidized really a good idea then? i just don't get what's all the hoopla about? to me it just looks like another typical HTC device. distribution is limited and will most likely be sold at full price. besides the bloatware and the keyboard, how is this different from the droid? will it have firmware that will never be released to the other makers?

The original T-Mobile G1 was a Google Phone and HTC made that phone.

That's what I'm trying to get at, chris. Everyone seems to think (or wants to think) this is a google made phone, when its not. It's supposed to be a game changer. It's just another HTC phone without the bloat.

I agree. It's more of a marketing exercise than a game changer. It's Droid Eris, with better specs and Android 2.1.

If you're planning to release a killer phone, you don't get on board with T-Mobile.
