The situation is no different than buying a computer with XP a month before Win7 was released and realizing you needed more RAM to run Win7. Or buying a 2010 model car and a month later, the 2011 models are released and they have an integrated nav system. You could even go so far as comparing it to buying a tank of gas at 2.39 a gallon and the next morning on the way to work, the same station had dropped it to 2.29 a gallon.

In none of these cases, do you, the consumer, have any kind of promise or protection to the future model, better pricing, etc. All you have is an self-created expectation and honestly, computer/software companies do a far better job at meeting those consumer expectations than other market sectors do. Service packs for OS's, IOS upgrades, etc., have all been free. They don't have to be.

Your sole argument is that you have an expectation that something that offers significant upgrades should be given to you for free, because you want it to be. Why? What other market sector follows that same principle?

sambhavna, you seem to think that the age of a device is based on the date you purchase it and while I understand it is new to you the age is still dictated by when it was manufactured and released. Buying anything, a cell phone, a washing machine, a frying pan involves some risk in that you don't know when the next version will be released. If you purchase an item you buy it because it meets your needs and does what you want at that time. If it provides the service expected and intended over the usable life then you have gotten what was promised.

It would be great if we could have a guarantee that anything we buy today will be made to be just like the updated model that will be released next year or the year after, but the market does not work that way. Manufacturers could be viewed by some as being deceptive if they continue to sell an item as the newest up to the day they release the next version, but what is a manufacturer to do? If they announce a new version will be available in six months or in three months sales will stop and they will have to take a heavy loss on leftover inventory. They could stop making an item and stores will not have anything to sell for a period of time. What purpose will that serve?

When you buy any product you run the risk that something better will be released the next day. If the improvement is a simple update to software then sure I can expect it to be provided to me. If the update was made possible by improvements to hardware how can you expect your product can be upgraded?

One final thought is that as electronic devices age the prices generally go down and as you see price reductions that can be an indicator a newer model is on the way. If the price is coming down it is not reasonable to expect updates, but you can and should expect the device will operate as intended and that is what is guaranteed.

Voice of one, blah, blah, blah. Do what is right for you. If you expect this issue of Samsung not making your device new again to be a rallying point for millions I believe you are in for a major disappointment. Samsung tablet users are those who stood against...blah, blah, blah.....Are you serious? You make it sound like you are curing cancer or have battled the enemy to save mankind!

It is an electronic entertainment device!!!! Get over it.

You wrote "So those who have opted for the Samsung Tablets are the prime customers for Samsung.
Tablet means a mini laptop much more than a smartphone, then was Samsung sleeping while designing the device "

I have no idea what that is supposed to mean.

If you paid attention to what Scott wrote in another post it is likely that if ICS can be made to run on older hardware then you can expect the Android community will come up with a way and it will be posted all over this and other forums. Be patient.

i NEVER was a fan of SAMSUNG, don´t get me wrong, its a respectable brand, but when a company spreads its efforts in some many industries is hard to trust the quality of their product, and besides I haven´t had a SAMSUNG phone that really makes me change my mind ... RESPECT!!!

Interesting arguement. By that logic, Motorola ought to be tops.
Guess you don't buy anything LG then.

well most if not all of the cell phone makers are involved with other things besides cell phones. so that dosen't leave very many companies left. except maybe jitter bug.

have you ever though that maybe the reason they don't upgrade is because they simply work the way they are?

Get over it already. You can post here all day (and you seem to be), but that is not going to get Samsung to do anything different.

Write to Samsung's customer service department....

I can't upgrade a ford f150 to a 350 with a hemi, but ford continues to sell milions of f150's. What's your point? It's called business and multiple lines of products. Go buy one from a manufacturer that gives you ice cream Sammy, for whateverer you tink that will benefit you and be happy.
