    Heya!

    I have the SGH-T589
As I'm in Canada, it's known as the Samsung Galaxy Q
In the US, it's known as the Gravity Smart.

Anyways, I've been thinking of rooting, so I can upgrade to Gingerbread.
1)Now, what are the risks, and benefits of rooting?
2)What are "roms", and what can they do?
3)If I manage to root, how do I upgrade to gingerbread? Does it have to be a specific file compatible with my phone only?
    4) If I root, and need to go back, is it possible? (warranty wise)

You can get any ROM for YOUR device. We have a thread here on rooting, that gives you the risks involved. Only install ROMs for YOUR device.
