If it kept rebooting that means it didnt work.
You can try to flash the rom again, or revert back to the nandroid backup you made, or try a new rom.

The gist of the two articles are completely different. One talks about removing apps available to do tethering, another talks about a carrier automateically switching your plan. Oh and then there's the aspect that the first article speaks mainly about VZW and the second is all AT&T. So it is rather difficult to label this a "counter article".

First article. TMo & AT&T mentioned first, VZN an after thought. Not sure we're reading the same link at this point.

Secondly both articles are speaking to whether carriers are going after tethering on Android. Though yes, the approaches are sufficiently different that I agree, my use of 'counter' was a wider generalization.

The first article is actually weak in that that method only works on a purely stock phone with the necessary carrier bloat-wear to interfere with your market access.

I would think most people looking to do unauthorized tethering on Android would also shift into the root/unlocked boot loader space. Here you don't even need an app as the feature is ASOP the way Google intended it, since Froyo.

Lastly, for the audience, I think a disclaimer is necessary, one of us is against unauthorized tethering, the other for.

I doubt we have much of an audience and I think our stances are PFO.

LOL...that potentially could apply to some situations, but I was using it as Pretty F'ing / Freaking Obvious.

Yup you should wipe cache, data and dalvik when flashing a new rom. Although i have been using cm nightly and flash right over each nightly build with no problems

I think we can respectfully debate a topic...that's what makes these forums great! We all obviously believe in getting the "most" out of our devices or we would not be having these healthy debates.

I love our family too :")

A new cool feature of Rom Manager is that it now features an option to wipe Dalvik whereas in the past it didnt.

honestly the ONLY times I ever used the Dalvik wipe were when I had to. Flashing Uncommon Sense to Cyanogen or flashing from a looped bootloader. I hate having to do everything from the beginning on ANY of my projects.

Well its included in the options now.
Question. I want to see if there is an Update for the rom. I'm using. If there is how to do install it? Is it the same as pretty much putting a new rom on the device

As with any ROM, most devices, download zip and flash from recovery. Updates typically do not require wipes, changing ROMs do.
