Google Hits Back At Steve Jobs’ Activation Claims

At yesterday’s Apple iTunes event, Steve Jobs spent some time talking about iOS, and how successful it is, saying that 230,000 new devices are activated every day, and that he thinks that the competition (read: Android) are inflating their numbers by including upgrades, rather than just new users, saying “we think some of our friends are counting upgrades in their numbers”

Google responded by saying:

“The Android activation numbers do not include upgrades and are, in fact, only a portion of the Android devices in the market since we only include devices that have Google services.”

Can I get an “Oh snap!” Seriously, I can see that Google wants to protect their reputation, but neither side should engage in such mudslinging.
