HTC posted a quick note on their Facebook page in regards to locked bootloaders. Locking bootloaders is becoming standard practice for many manufacturers and as a result, it makes a real headache for the development community to get into the devices insides. HTC has been making it a habit of locking the bootloaders on devices like the Incredible S and supposedly the EVO 3D and Sensation 4G, as well.
In a quick note on their Facebook page, HTC has said that they are ‘reviewing the issue and our policy around bootloaders and will provide more information soon’. While that doesn’t promise a change, it does at least provide confirmation from HTC that locked bootloaders present a problem for a large portion of their userbase.
We’ll see.
