Huawei have made a number of Android handsets, primarily aimed at the European and Asian markets. Their newest device is a bit different from most other Android phones, in that Google was involved in the creation process. According to spokeswoman Glory Cheung, “the device was jointly planned and developed with Google and will come with Android 2.2.”
If this quote is accurate, it’s certainly an oddity. Google doesn’t often get involved too much in the design process, and this is a comparatively small company to throw their weight behind.
At this juncture, we don’t know price, availability, name, or where you’ll be able to purchase the thing, just that it will be “highly competitive price-wise.”
The phone is said to be officially announced on Thursday, Sept 2.
