According to Meizu CEO Jack Wong, the Meizu MX will be ready for a late September release in China. Meizu is best known, sadly, as the company behind the iPhone lookalike, the Meizu M9 that ran Android 2.2. Not exactly a reputation you want behind your company, especially with Apples itchy trigger finger when it comes to lawsuits these days.
The most curious thing about the MX, however, is not that it resembles another device. Quite on the contrary. The Meizu MX sets itself apart in that it claims to be coming out next month with a quad-core CPU inside. Obviously, at the time of this writing, the best we have in Android devices is a dual-core CPU. We know that NVIDIA is working on a quad-core CPU but the latest we heard is that we’d see the debut of a quad-core device late in Autumn or Winter of this year.
So where is Meizu getting their CPU’s, we have to wonder? We’ll find out next month, it looks like.
