Indie gaming sensation Minecraft is set to launch on Android after much hope from the community, but before you get too excited, there’s more. Minecraft on Android will be, at least temporarily, a Sony Ericsson Xperia Play exclusive game. Meaning that it won’t be natively compatible with other devices, which is quite the disappointment indeed.
Of course, Netflix was also exclusive to few devices before the development community got its hands on the application and quickly opened it up to more devices. Just the same, however, Netflix really didn’t work as it should have once it was made available on other devices. As for the game itself, developer Mojang Specifications has said that they are committed to releasing Minecraft for the Xperia Play early, and updating it frequently – much in the same way that they support Minecraft on PC.
Mojang is expected to reveal more information at this year’s Electronics Entertainment Expo (E3) where they will be on hand for a press conference on June 7th.
