Motorola Defy unveiled, Q4 launch

Motorola Defy

Motorola’s newest edition in their “rugged” category, the Defy, is set to join the group in Europe in the fourth quarter of this year. Similar to the Motorola i1 (the one with Mike Rowe’s dirt covered face in the screen), the phone is impact, water, dust, and scratch resistant and certified with IP67 standards.  Starting with the display, the Defy has a 3.7-inch Gorilla Glass screen with a 480×854-pixel resolution. The phone also has an 800 MHz OMAP 3610 processor, 1540 mAh battery, 1.25 gigs stock memory, and a 5 Mega Pixel camera with a LED flash. The phone is running a motoBLUR skin, paired with Android 2.1 (with possibility of expansion to 2.2).

As the campaign featuring Dirty Job’s Mike Rowe says for the i1, these types of phones are much more suiting for those who find themselves in physically intensive jobs or work, or outdoors on a regular occasion. Although, giving this to your clumsy teenager might not be the worst idea, as it could survive a drop or dip in the toilet.

cool design with the screen size optimized to minize the overall physical size of the phone yet allow big and clear display. They must apply this layout proportion to their other phones.
