Sales of Google’s Nexus 7 have been a relative unknown, but we’ve got some actual numbers from ASUS, the manufacturer of the Nexus 7. David Chang, CFO for ASUS:
“At the beginning, it was, for instance, 500K units a month, then maybe 600, 700K. This latest month, it was close to 1 million.”
Google’s spokesperson Caroline Hsu refused to comment or offer Google’s sales figures.
Google this week unveiled the larger Google Nexus 10 tablet, along with larger storage capacity options for the Nexus 7. The Nexus 7 remains competitively priced at $199, a greater value now with 16GB of on board storage. The 32GB configuration is priced at $249. The 7-inch tablet market is about to get more competitive with Amazon’s Kindle Fire offerings and Apple’s iPad mini, due out on November 2nd.
