This is not good for early adopters. It’s been less than one year since the launch of the T-Mobile G1 and now we get word that it’s virtually impossible to get future updates. The latest cupcake update reportedly filled the system partition, effectively leaving G1 owners at the end of the line when it comes to updates.
T-Mobile has not provided official word, but Google Android engineers do not appear to be optimistic. “As much as I’m hoping that it’ll be possible to somehow continue updating the G1, I can’t promise anything.”
So how does this affect T-Mobile myTouch owners? Certainly not a good feeling for G1 owners.
