Europe will be the first to get the 7-inch Samsung Galaxy Tab, and we’re starting to get an inkling for what it’ll cost, and it’s going to hurt. Expansys is taking 16GB pre-orders for £679.99, and we’ve heard rumors that it’ll set continental European back €699 to €799. A 16GB 3G iPad goes for £529.00 by comparison.
Price might just kill this device, if these stories are accurate. Even accounting for VAT, this is a significantly higher price than we expected, especially if Samsung Galaxy Tab is to be competitive with the iPad, which has a pretty strong start in the market.
Samsung is officially denying that its set a price, but the sheer number of sites that are reporting this, from different sources, implies that they’ve at least hinted what it should go for. The Daily Mail is reporting that it might be as low as £200. I definitely call BS on that, because it’s the Daily Mail, and they’re useless.
